The Galapagos Islands are located 1000 km from the Ecuadorian Coast in the Pacific Ocean, it was declared by UNESCO “Natural Patrimony of Humanity” in 1978; It consists of 13 large islands, 6 small and 107 rocks and islets.

The Galapagos Marine Reserve, the second largest in the world, contains the last coral reef, its waters have the largest shark biomass on the planet and receive the only migration of whale sharks in gestation. At the beginning of 2016, the Galapagos Marine Sanctuary was created “in order to protect the hammerhead shark, an endangered species.”

In addition, it is worth mentioning its long beaches of white sand and ivory sand, the mysterious volcanic lava tunnels, snorkeling and diving areas with species of attractive colors and shapes. Among the most important cities is Puerto Ayora, Puerto Villamil and Puerto Baquerizo Moreno.

Galapagos is famous for its endemic flora and fauna, which makes this site one of the paradises that we can still enjoy on our planet.

Day 1 Arrival to Galapagos & Tour to the Highlands

The tour starts with morning flight to Galapagos (Baltra Island).
At arrival, meeting with the guide who will be waiting for you at the arrival lounge.
First visit is to the highlands of Santa Cruz, where we will experience the strange and impressive phenomenon of the “Twins” (Spanish: Gemellos), two very deep depressions in the forested highlands. Later we visit a farm neighboring the national park. The farm “Rancho Primicias” attracts the wild giant tortoises with its green grass, and therefore this site is the best place to spot one of these amazing creatures that have given Galapagos its name. Lunch at the farm. Afterwards, transfer tohotel en Puerto Ayora.

Day 2 Isabela Island & Tintoreas

Today we will catch the early boat from Puerto Ayora to Puerto Villamil on the Isabela Island. Arrival around 9-10 and transfer to the hotel.
In the afternoon, tour to Tintoreas. This is a 2 hours tour where you will get to do some excellent snorkeling. Pick up at the hotel and a short boat trip to “Los Tintoreras”, named after an abundant shark on Galapagos. The island is small and we have the chance to spot many marine iguanas and also the Tintoreras-shark in a canal.

The snorkeling is excellent around this island, and we reserve plenty of time to enjoy the waters and the wildlife.

Day 3 Isabela – Excursion to the Sierra Negra volcano

Today there is a day excursion to the Sierra Negra volcano. Pick up at the hotel early in the morning and arrive at the foot of the crater. From the entrance, we take a 30 minute walk to the crater, with an amazing view of the 1450 m volcano. It is the second largest crater in the world, with a diameter of 9,6 km. The volcano is active and had a major eruption in 2005, and we can clearly see the remains of the lava rivers from this eruption. Later we visit the Chico volcano, an area not often visited, where we can appreciate clear signs of volcanic activity such as fumaroles and mineral associations.

Day 4 Self-guided tour to “Los Humedales”. Return to Santa Cruz

Morning free for a self-guided tour to the Lava Tunnel “El Estero”, the historical site of The Wall of Tear, the Flamingo Laguna and in the end to the Giant Tortoise breeding Center“Arnaldo Tipiza-Chamaidan”. From the breeding Center, walk back to the town along a very nice path.
In the afternoon (at 2 pm) boat transfer back to Santa Cruz. Arrival around 5 pm and transfer to hotel.

Day 5 Santa Cruz

Today we recommend a selfguided tour to the Darwin Center or an optional tour to Seymore or Plaza South (see optional tours separately).
